Handwritten Card + Envelope: keep the center of the card front clear

B
Written by Beau Gosse

The front of a Handwritten Card + Envelope has a reserved area in its center. We use that area for your handwritten message and for a small production mark. The mark helps us print and track your card. You cannot see it on the finished card.

The mark cannot go over printed images, printed text or a colored background. So the editor keeps the center of the card front clear of printed art.

What you see in the editor

When printed art covers the reserved center of a Handwritten Card + Envelope front, a red square shows the reserved center. The square shows with the error and goes away when you fix it. The square does not print.

Your handwritten message can go anywhere on the card, the center included.

"Images or printed text in the reserved center"

This error shows when printed art covers the center of the card front. Printed art is anything that is not your handwritten message: an image, a logo, a QR code, a shape, or printed text.

To fix it, move or resize the printed art so it stays out of the center. The error clears as soon as no printed art covers the reserved square. The art can touch the edge of the square.

The editor reads the full rectangle of each image. An image with a transparent background can cause the error even when its visible part is outside the center. Crop or move the image to fix it.

"Front background must be white"

This error shows when the front of the card has a colored background, or a photo that covers the whole front. Change the front background to white, or make the photo smaller so the center stays white.

While an error shows

You cannot continue to the next step until you fix the error. You can still save your design as a draft and come back to it later.
