If some of your Address Book contacts are missing a mailing address or a birthday, the Enrichment feature can help fill in those gaps. Enrichment matches your existing contacts against a third-party data vendor and adds the information it finds back onto your records — so you can mail to more of your list and unlock birthday-based campaigns.
What Enrichment Can Fill In
When you run Enrichment, you choose one of two types:
Enrich Contact (Address): fills in or verifies a mailing address for a contact. Matching uses whatever information the contact already has — an email address, a partial address, or a name plus city.
Birthday: looks up a contact's date of birth (or a closely estimated date of birth) using their name and address, and adds it as a birthday field on the recipient.
A note on other data types: the data vendor behind Enrichment can return many other kinds of information about a person, such as income range, home value, or marital status. Today, only address and birthday data are actually added to your contacts through this feature. If you're hoping to enrich other fields, please reach out to our team at [email protected]
How to Run Enrichment
Enrichment is opt-in — it never runs automatically on its own. You start it yourself from the Address Book page using the Enrich Recipients action, which walks you through a short flow:
Select contacts. Choose specific rows to enrich, or select all contacts in your Address Book.
Choose the enrichment type. Pick Address or Birthday, depending on what you're trying to fill in.
Set your conflict preference. Decide how to handle it when the enriched data doesn't match what you already have on file. You can choose to keep your existing data, use the new enriched data, keep both, or do nothing.
Review the summary. Before anything is finalized, you'll see a summary of what's about to happen so you can double-check your selections.
Complete checkout. Enrichment is a paid feature — you're only charged for contacts that are successfully matched and enriched, not for every contact you submit. Completing checkout creates an order you can track.
Tracking Your Enrichment Orders
Every time you run Enrichment, it creates an order that you can follow on the Enrichment Orders tab in your Address Book. Each order shows its current status, such as Draft, Payment Needed, Paid, Completed, or Error, so you always know where things stand.
A Note on "Pending Enrichment" Flags
If you've uploaded a CSV file and a contact was flagged as "potentially undeliverable, pending enrichment," that's a different, automatic process — not the same as the paid Enrichment feature described above. This guide covers the on-demand Enrichment feature you access from the Address Book page.
